About Us

Applied Designs specializes in fine custom finishes, plaster work and murals. We strive to create unique designs to complement your décor and to deliver our work in a clean, respectful and timely manner. Our company is based in Ottawa, Canada and provides services for both residential and commercial projects for designers, decorators, custom homebuilders and private individuals.

Our services include murals, Trompe L’Oeil, faux marble, glazes, stencilling, painted furniture, architectural gilding, Venetian plaster, master reproductions and colour consultations.

Applied Designs is owned and operated by Dana Wardrop and Peter Langlois.

Dana Wardrop received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Ottawa in 1979. She received a Canada Council Grant to study the Petroglyphs and Pictographs in the southwestern United States in 1993 and went on to study decorative painting with Master Yannique Guegan at the Institute Guegan in Guimiac, France (1993). From 1987 to 1997, she was the Head Scenic Artist at the National Arts Center in Ottawa, Canada.

Peter Langlois received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University in Montreal (1978). Prior to that, he attended the University of Toronto in Architecture. In 1989 he studied contemporary Canadian Art, with Bruce Ferguson, at the University of Ottawa. He has worked with the highly respected opera scene shop, Michael Hagen Inc. in Glens Falls, N.Y.
